Mika and Damon celebrated their wedding at the newly opened Country Grand in Franschhoek, one of the Cape Winelands’ most exciting new luxury wedding venues. Hosted just a week after the venue officially opened, their celebration marked one of the very first weddings at this sought-after Franschhoek destination.
Originally from the UK, Mika and Damon planned a destination wedding in South Africa, welcoming guests from abroad to experience the beauty of the Cape Winelands. After postponing their wedding twice due to Covid-19, the occasion carried even greater meaning—making their long-awaited celebration all the more special.
Throughout the planning process, the venue remained constant, while the restaurant concept evolved twice—requiring a thoughtful and flexible approach to the overall wedding design. The final design embraced a warm and inviting atmosphere, layered with rich tones, natural greenery, dark wood textures, and ambient lighting.
The couple envisioned an evening centred around celebration—exceptional food, live music, and a vibrant atmosphere. From the ceremony to the dance floor, every moment was thoughtfully curated. A live string quartet set the tone for the ceremony, followed by a lively marimba band during pre-drinks, creating a uniquely South African touch for international guests. The evening continued with a live band that kept the dance floor full, ensuring an unforgettable celebration from start to finish.

We hired Elzahn to plan my daughter’s wedding in South Africa as we are based in the UK. We had no idea at the time what a long and challenging process it was going to prove due to Covid. This threw in many obstacles including a postponement and the restaurant at the venue changing hands twice. I cannot express how grateful we are to Elzahn for her professional approach, fabulous organisation and finding solutions to all the hurdles thrown in her way in a timely, enthusiastic and efficient way. She understood exactly what we were trying to achieved and delivered it to a standard much higher than we could have hoped for. Our guests were blown away. Elzahn gave us many choices of her tried and tested suppliers, brought her experience and expertise to solving every problem, was always communicative and skillful in her approach. The day ran more smoothly than any other event I have been to. Elzahn took all the stress out of it for us. I cannot recommend Le Fox weddings and events highly enough.
